Edmund Hillary was born on 20th july 1919 in Auckland. He had a brother and a sister. He attended Tuakau Primary School and then Auckland Grammar. Edmund Hillary was an influential New Zealander because him climbing Mt Everest. He has won an award from the government in India that is called Padma Bhushan. Edmund Hillary was 6 feet and 5 inches tall. He was a navigator for the New Zealand Royal Air Force in World War Two. He climbed Mt Everest that is 29,029 feet tall.
