Pontoon bridge

Why were these bridges created? A pontoon bridge is a bridge that floats on water. It is a floating bridge with barges or boats to support the bridge deck. These are used for sheltered water crossing in the war.

How are they built? They are made from large watertight concrete floats, boats, barges or other buoyant structures connected end to end.

How are they reusable? They are moveable, you could use them for a pedestrian or vehicle bridge to cross the water.

  1. Hi Harry
Thanks for sharing about pontoon bridges.
    Simple but informative!
    Buoyant is an interesting word.
I wonder if we could recreate something like this in the classroom?
